Meghalaya or 'abode of the clouds', it is one of the most picturesque states of India, offering a spectrum of sylvan surroundings, rich cultural heritage, misty heights, breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls, luxurious vegetation, flora and fauna.
The climate of the State remains cool throughout the year. Meghalaya is the only state in the country where several waterfalls are located. Cherrapunjee is known to receive the world's heaviest rainfall. The state is the home of many rare animals and birds. Wild life includes elephants, tigers, golden cats, monkeys of different types, golden cats, and several types of rare birds.
The capital of Meghalaya is Shillong in Khasi Hills district. There are several beautiful places for all types of tourist. Beautiful waterfalls, snow covered mountain peaks, wild life, natural lakes, deep green forests creating a captivating view of breath taking beauty.
